The project consists of a full refurbishment of a Georgian apartment at South Kensington, London. The apartment is approximately 40m 2 and originally was a one-bedroom apartment on the Upper Ground Floor of the rear side of Gloucester Road.
In order to create more living space in this house, we have chosen to design a raised patio housing the bed in the living room area, which has double height. This arrangement generated a spacious living room and given the fact that all the storage facilities have been placed in the corridor area, the maximum potential for daylight has been achieved.
The new configuration was conditioned by the customer’s wish to refurbish and open up the petite apartment, in order to be more comfortable and cozy. The solution we adopted retains the original position of the Bathroom and the Kitchen, but introduces new openings and new finishing materials.
