This is a house in a touristic seaside village of Neos Marmaras, in Sithonia, Halkidiki. There is nothing between the house and the sea, but a narrow road and a small park. So, the sea view is incredible, keeping in mind that the house faces towards the sunset.

We designed it, in order to take the most of the view, so the house is widely ‘open’ to its south west side. The site is inclined and faces two streets, one on the top and one at the bottom level of the slope. There are three main house levels and a basement level below them. The main entrance, is at the highest level leading to the living room, kitchen, bathroom and the guest room. An open staircase, leads to the lower level where there are three bedrooms, two bathrooms and the utility room. The lower level of the house can be reached through the same staircase, when we can find the way out to the lower yard and the street. In the same level, we have designed a 50 sq.m. studio and a large storage room.

The house is designed as as a vague connotation of a ship facing the sea. It has two skins. The first is dark rigid and bold, steadily planted inn the ground. The second skin is white, light weighted and tilting its sharp edges towards the sea, in an impuse to begin the journey. This second skin, is actually an exoskeleton, since it is the structural body of the whole building.

Architecture emerges out of careful analysis of how contemporary life constantly evolves and changes.
