NATIONAL CENTER FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH “DEMOKRITOS” library athens greece

OFFICETWENTYFIVEARCHITECTS were commissioned to redesign and renovate a 1000m2 ground floor library in Dimokritos building, in Aghia Paraskevi, Athens.

We were asked to design a double height exhibition space, which will host books of Dimokritos property. Show cases were designed for the exhibits and rest areas such as small living rooms offer the opportunity to relax while reading a book. At the entrance, a skylight allows the sunlight to penetrate into the area. The double height of the library is underlined with the design of a black square frame, which highlights the thematic banners.

Black and white colors were used for the furnishing to underline their simple forms.
