This project was a proposed remodeling of an existing house in London, with the addition of a small rear extension to accommodate the needs of the client. The house belongs to an author of romance novels that resides with her partner and cat. She requested we redesign the house to accommodate their need. We decided to propose for the extension a quiet place with ample daylight for her to read and write. A shelf was designed for the wall above the desk that doubles as a perch for the cat. A skylight was placed on the roof to let daylight in from above.

The living room was separated from the dining area with sliding crittal glass doors. A small study was proposed on one side of the fireplace along the exterior wall to receive daylight from the window. The kitchen was fitted with a new island and wall to wall cupboards that housed all the electrical appliances and concealed the boiler. New storage space was placed under the staircase with room for the washing machine and dryer.

The bedroom upstairs was redesigned to have a large cupboard along one wall with three large sliding leaves. The bathroom was remodeled to contain a free standing bathtub as well as a shower.

Architecture emerges out of careful analysis of how contemporary life constantly evolves and changes.
