The “65 Fellbrigg Road” project was assigned to our London office. The client asked for an extension of their loft as well as a rear and side return extension on the ground floor. The old ground floor extension was replaced with an extended living space which comprised of a large open kitchen and a dining area. A continuous sliding glass door provides access to the veranda, where the patio containing a built-in barbeque and an outdoor dining area is located. Four small steps lead to the elevated backyard, allowing for a cozy intermediate area. The ground floor extension also includes three skylights on the sloped roof above the dining area. On the first floor the existing extension is extended to allow for a new bedroom with a large bathroom. The loft extension adds a master bathroom and dressing room as well as extra space to the master bedroom. A large window/skylight is opened on the rear wall. The opening extends from the ceiling to the floor to provide the bedroom with ample sunlight and a view of the garden. The same skylight/window motif is repeated in the bathroom, creating a continuity on the facade. An interior design proposal was also undertaken on the new spaces created: Kitchen, dining area, master bedroom, bathroom and dressing room. The extensions are clad in dark grey wood. A yellow brick wall is also erected on the property boundary.
