The creative duo of Petra Bachmaier and Sean Gallero is using lights, sounds, mapping projections and other materials (instead of synths) to create their compositions. Their vision has mainly to do with the transformation of existing buildings and structures into impressive, interactive giant sculptures/installations.
Since 2000 they have managed to experiment with their ‘tools’ in numerous projects, producing monumental results in locations like the JFK Airport, Emirates Palace, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater and Robie House.

“Artistic interactions with Fallingwater have always presented a challenge to artists. To most the building seems so complete it begs the question: what can be added to the experience? However I think what Luftwerk accomplished was remarkable. Their installation created a dialogue with the architecture and its setting. A this moment, Luftwerk have launched a Kickstarter campaign in order to fund their next project, ‘INsite’. The concept here is to illuminate and underline the volumes and qualities of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s masterpiece, the Farmsworth House.
The exceptional thought behind their interventions is not only to highlight beautiful buildings and locations, but simultaneously to reach the younger crowd to reassess the value of architecture. They have already prepared a preview with their designing approach and they have 2 days ahead to reach their goal.
