Thessaloniki joins the Open House family, by organizing an event to celebrate the 100 years since its liberation and also the city’s architecture and design. Fifty selected sites of quality architecture will be open to the public for one weekend. Open House is a simple but powerful concept: showcasing outstanding architecture for all to experience, completely for free.

Open House initiatives invite everyone to explore and understand the value of a well-designed built environment. The Open House event started in London in 1992, gaining in the past 20 years a lot of appreciation and support. Το 2012, με αφορμή την επέτειο εορτασμού των 100 χρόνων από την απελευθέρωση της, διοργανώνεται στη Θεσσαλονίκη η δράση Open House. Πενήντα επιλεγμένοι για την αρχιτεκτονική τους χώροι ανοίγουν τις πύλες τους στο κοινό για ένα σαββατοκύριακο. Το Open House είναι μια απλή αλλά ισχυρή ιδέα: η προβολή ποιοτικής αρχιτεκτονικής στο ευρύ κοινό εντελώς δωρεάν.
Η δράση Open House προσκαλεί το κοινό να εξερευνήσει και να κατανοήσει την αξία της αρχιτεκτονικής και του δομημένου περιβάλλοντος. Η δράση πρωτοξεκίνησε στο Λονδίνο το 1992 αποκτώντας μέσα σε 20 χρόνια μεγάλη εκτίμηση και υποστήριξη από το κοινό.
