The new 3 star hotel has a total area of 1.400 m2 and it is situated in Pefkari, a small village in the island of Thasos, Greece. It consists of a basement with storage areas and preparation rooms, a ground floor with lobby, dining areas, kitchen and five rooms, and an upper level where the rest of the rooms are developed.
OFFICETWENTYFIVEARCHITECTS intended to design a building less monolithic that follows the natural form of the site. The sloped roofs are alternating with flat ones while white pergolas offer shading in the exterior configurations. Although the chosen architecture follows the morphology of the place, it has a strong contemporary identity too. Large modern glass windows with lattice shades are consistent with this philosophy. Local materials are also used, such as local stone and some wooden elements in lattice and sun protection blinds.
The not passable roof is covered with white gravel while cement mortars and large ceramic tiles cover the floors of the surrounding area. The color is given through the materials of special constructions such as wooden blinds sunscreen, glass and metals in shades of gray, as well as stone, as mentioned above.
